RBI ORGANIZATION: OVERVIEW
The RBI is governed by a central board of directors appointed by Government of India according to provisions of the RBI Act. The Central Board of Directors headed by a Governor, four Deputy Governors, and consists of ten non official Directors. Also, it has Local Boards at Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and New Delhi. The Local Boards advise the Central Board on local financial matters and interests of local cooperative and indigenous banking system and performs other functions as delegated by Central Board from time to time. RBI has its headquarters in Mumbai, a part of which functions in New Delhi. The central bank has 22 regional offices spread in major cities of India.
Training Institutions of RBI:
Reserve Bank of India maintains six training and educational establishments designated to educate human resources about the monetary policy and management, viz., College of Agricultural Banking, Bankers Training College and Reserve Bank of India Staff College, National Institute for Bank Management, Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research (IGIDR), Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT).
